چکیده
A mid-term study (2003-2013) of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in Gulf Trieste sediments was conducted at seven sampling sites. The PAH spatial and temporal distribution origin were determined. sampled with a gravity core sampler. After extraction PAH, their concentrations determined by gas chromatography. results the show variability. highest mean concentration measured marina Portoroz (1168 ng/g dw), lowest an offshore site (320 dw). higher coastal areas decreasing trend towards central part Trieste. interannual differences showed significant downward Portorož, port Koper off Piran. No observed all other Various evaluation indices that are predominantly pyrolytic origin, lower proportion petrogenic especially Bay Koper. ecological risk assessment found well below levels associated adverse biological effects. According to presented results, this area can be considered as only moderately contaminated PAH. However, applied measures reduce pollution should continued intensified.

Sedimentary polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons: the historical record.
Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in three sections of a dated sediment core from Buzzards Bay, Massachusetts, have been analyzed by gas chromatographic spectrometry. This historical information suggests that sedimentary polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, at least at this location, result primarily from the anthropogenic combustion of fossil fuels.
متن کاملLong-term copepod dynamics in the Gulf of Trieste (Northern Adriatic Sea): recent changes and trends
Cluster and time series analyses were applied to a 1970–1999 data set of zooplankton collected from the Gulf of Trieste (Northern Adriatic Sea). Two time periods were compared: 1970–1980 and 1986–1999. Associations of copepod species were identified and an attempt was made to reveal their long-term dynamics and significant patterns over the study period. Two main groups with 2 and 3 subgroups e...
متن کاملPolycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons in Offshore Surface Sediments of the Northern Persian Gulf, Bushehr Province
Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are classified as an important category of semi-volatile and persistent organic pollutants. They cause environmental problems due to their toxicity and accumulation in sediments. In this research, offshore sediments of 19 stations in 8 transects of the Persian Gulf in Bushehr province were studied to assess the sources of PAHs. The extraction and clean up...
متن کاملDistribution of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in the sediments of the Adriatic Sea.
Distribution of the sixteen polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) indicated from USEPA as priority pollutants was studied in surface sediments of two coastal areas of the Adriatic Sea. PAHs were recovered from the sediments by solvent extraction and then analyzed by means of gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. Total concentrations of the analytes in the range 24.1-501.1 ng/g were detected. ...
متن کاملClimatic circulation in the Gulf of Trieste (northern Adriatic)
[1] The climatic circulation of the Gulf of Trieste, which is a shallow semienclosed basin in the closed northeastern end of the northern Adriatic, is studied with a numerical model. In all seasons there is a general inflow into the Gulf of Trieste at its lower, deeper part. This inflow makes a cyclonic turn centered in the southern part during average winter conditions. This turn is enhanced d...
